Important Information:
Due to the nature of firefighting, you will be placing yourself in situations uncommon to the general public. You will be trained and required to use respirators in escape, emergency rescue, and situations as determined by the incident. You will be working under hot conditions (temperatures above 77°F), in humid conditions, and in hazardous environments such as confined spaces involving life-threatening toxins and smoke. All turnout gear and equipment assigned for your use remains the property of the Union Fire District.
In the event that you become inactive or otherwise leave the Union Fire District, you acknowledge responsibility for returning all assigned equipment, including but not limited to: helmet, turnout coat, bunker pants, firefighting boots, ID, pager, and firefighter license plate (if issued). All turnout gear and equipment remain the property of the Union Fire District. In case of non-compliance, the Union Fire District retains the right to pursue legal recourse for the return of the gear and equipment or monetary compensation for its replacement.
